The Art of Daithi

 Visual Language

From the beginning of human visual expression, through history and into today people have created stories. We have made symbols and pictures of ourselves in our environments. From ancient caves to contemporary museums we have created and displayed images communicating what is meaningful.

My paintings are stories.  In my work, visceral lines and shapes become forms and figures. Inspired by the process, my approach is an ebb and flow of creation and destruction. Using an universal iconography I create narratives within an instinctual sight and a meditative transcription.

In my paintings, one will find stories of people in abstract landscapes of color and movement. People engaged in life; playing music, making art, dancing, in protest, in prayer, farming, in war, in celebration, in love and giving. These stories are woven within these splashes of color creating multiple experiences in a single event within the painting. These compositions become starting points to complex abstract questions. I enjoy finding poetic pathways and emotional spaces, which communicate with each other and create visual corridors. Inviting the viewer to find alternative ways at looking.  Several narratives that run through my work; nature, music, technology, dreams, social justice, catharsis, community and time. Some of my most significant paintings tell stories about the human condition affect from the current informational age, dimensionality of existence, the automationation of the human spirit and our loss of individually in a contemporary culture. I am interested in creating a sincere and unique visual language which is about empathy, connectiveness and humanity.
